Kathryn Petrey, MAMFT, LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
As a registered yoga instructor my approach to the therapeutic process is holistic, rooted in the mind-body-spirit connection for wellness. I operate out of a Mindfulness-based, client centered foundation and tailor to each individual’s unique needs. My hope is to serve as a positive support during times of transition and uncertainty within the human struggle and aim to assist clients in actively shifting away from feeling stuck.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I offer individual, couples & systemic therapy utilizing evidence-based, integrative & humanistic approaches grounded in Mindfulness to guide my practice. I specialize in:
Improving Communication & Repairing Relational Injury in Couples
Deepening Relational Connection & Intimacy
Grief & Loss
Personal Growth & Transformation
Mindfulness/ Meditation/ Mindful Living
I see the client as the expert on their life and work collaboratively, in order to co-create in session. I work to empower clients in going inward for answers, assisting them in sharpening their inner clarity to better recognize what is needed for the healing and growth they desire. I value the client’s ability to discover their own inner wisdom for guidance.
As a couples therapist, I assist clients in improving communication, gaining clarity and deepening emotional connection within their relationship. I guide clients toward healing, rebuilding trust and discovering new positive interaction sequences going forward. My overall focus is on guiding clients from distress to inner calm and relational harmony, as well as rediscovering one’s natural state of balance and finding the personal transformation they seek in moving beyond mental limitations, emotional pain and feelings of stuckness. I believe in the power of living into one’s full potential.
I work to instill hope for desired change, so if you are feeling overwhelmed & caught up in old coping mechanisms that are no longer serving you, let’s work together to rewrite & redirect all in a positive direction; working to loosen the grip of unwanted symptoms and persisting patterns in exchange for discovering the freedom of empowered awareness and renewal.
It is my understanding that awareness, acceptance and self-compassion usher in grace and healing. I strive to offer the resources, tools and hope that light the way forward for all clients.
I am a registered yoga teacher, RYT-200 and hold a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
